I’m 37 weeks pregnant and sometimes I’m having heart rate accelerations. Even when I’m resting it feels like my heart is beating faster like I can’t breathe properly. It’s happening when I have Braxton Hicks too.. and I can honestly say I’m not anxious or nervous, I'm very ready and excited to have this baby. So I was wondering if that’s something I need to get checked out? I had some heart palpitations on early second trimester, but this feels a bit different, could it be just because of contractions slowly starting? I’m having some period-like cramps too.
Heart palpitations are common in pregnancy, but because you've said about having some shortness of breath too it's worth being checked out at your hospital. Call the triage and get booked in for assessment. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's anything heart related and scary, it can be caused by low iron levels, which is checked through a blood test. And we'd want you to have the best possible iron level going into giving birth!
