My baby is two weeks old and I’ve been breastfeeding only but it’s been so difficult. His latching is great and he’s always positioned correctly but I’ve constantly got sore nipples from feeding. They aren’t cracked or anything, just very sore. Breastfeeding nurses have said since his positioning and latching is correct there isn’t much more I can do. I have nipple shields which help when the pain is too much, but even with them it’s still quite painful. Has anyone had similar experiences to this, and are there any tips on how to manage it?

I had the same when my baby was a few weeks old. I got some nipple cream which was magical - I would put that on straight after feeding him. Sometimes I would take him off, put it on, then put him back on the boob. I also expressed so if my nipples were really sore I would give him the bottle, it would still be breast milk but it gave my boobs a rest. Good luck, stick with it.
