My toddler (28 months) is finding it hard to go to sleep at night. She wakes at 8am and I try to put her down at 8-8.30pm, but she doesn't want to give in to sleep and is lively at times. She will go to sleep about 9 or 9.30pm, which seems very late for little girl her age. She naps for daycare at 1-2pm (I have capped it at one hour) but doesn't nap for me at home at weekends! I'm wondering if I should drop the nap or if I should change the sleep schedule... any advice?

Sounds like she is having a good 11-12 hours sleep at night, which is fabulous, and a daytime nap, which is great! So, you could just adjust your timings a little.

What you could do is wake her up early one morning and bring bedtime forward. You could start by waking her up at 7am. Then get her ready for bed at 6.30pm and to sleep at 7pm. You could this for a little bit and see how you go. Keep at it and hopefully you will find a new rhythm.

If it's still not working, then you could drop the nap but then you will have to bring the bedtime right forwards. I had to do this with my little ones and then just keep adjusting a little. For a little while, have a really early no-fuss supper and then bedtime at 6pm.
