My son is nearly eight weeks old, weighing 13 pounds. I have been making 6oz bottles for him. Sometimes he finishes the bottles, but sometimes he only drinks half of it at night and I have to throw the formula away. I have been wasting so much formula. It's very frustrating. What should I do?
Hi, I'd maybe look into pace feeding, which is when you allow baby to be more in control of how quickly they drink and how much too. Six ounces sounds like quite a lot of formula for an eight week old. Because babies have a suckling reflux, they'll often finish bottles even when they're not full if not pace fed.
We had a similar issue, and are now doing around 5oz for our 15 week old, although she usually only has around 4oz - and then we'll give her the rest until about half an hour later if she's still hungry. Hope that helps!
