My son is 13 months old now but I still don't feel like I am back to my pre-pregnancy healthy mental state, and I have mood swings now and again. Is it normal or should I see a doctor? I have noticed it increase near my period or when I haven't had enough sleep.
It is normal to have mood swings periodically after the first year of childbirth, and especially with PMS and lack of sleep. Since you're aware that these things in particular play a role, you might try to think about how to prepare yourself for those times, e.g. maybe decrease what you need to get through in a day, or have some extra help on hand so you can get away or take a break. If you feel that your mood swings are getting the best of you most of the time, definitely speak with your GP.
