Looking forward to an extra hour in bed this weekend? Nope, us neither. 🤦♀️ Unfortunately, when it comes to the clocks going back an hour, babies seem to miss the memo. But don’t worry! We’re here with some nifty tips to help smooth the transition to Autumn bedtimes.
Instead of waiting until Sunday to make adjustments, start now. Try shifting your little one’s bedtime forward a little bit each day this week. And don’t forget to push meal and nap times back by the same amount so that the routine is consistent.
This way, by Sunday your child will already be going to bed and waking up at the new time. Because a 4am wakeup call? No, thank you.
If you’re reading this on Saturday morning in a panic, no problem! You can make the change throughout the day by making all meals a little bit later. That’s 15 minutes later for breakfast and 30 minutes later for lunch. By dinner, look to be an hour later than usual. Add in a few extra bedtime stories and voila!
For parents, the clocks going back is never particularly fun. But know that your child’s body clocks will adjust over the next couple of weeks whether you shift routine or not. So try to go with the flow and embrace the Autumn cosiness.
