Drinking plenty of water and maintaining a healthy diet full of fibre, such as wholemeal bread, beans and lentils, are the first steps to offset constipation. Exercising regularly can be really helpful. Laxatives are also an option, but speak to your midwife or doctor before you take any just to check they’re suitable for you and not contraindicated in pregnancy as many medications are.
